Tuesdays, through September 21, 7:00 PM

Red Banner Reading Circle: Murry Weiss on Women's Emancipation & the Future of the Fourth International

A brilliant Marxist and a founder of the U.S. Trotskyist movement, Weiss critiques how sexism led the Fourth International (FI), an organization founded by Leon Trotsky to advance the struggle of international socialism, to ignore feminist revolt and to ban women's caucuses in the 1970s. Weiss also warns that the FI's opportunist refusal to confront the Socialist Workers Party when it oriented toward the most privileged white male trade unionists and abandoned fundamental Trotskyist principles would undermine the drive for working class liberation. We'll discuss why revolution without women's leadership is out of tune with the music of fundamental change. Join in at any time.

Snacks will be provided for a donation. This group will meet at the Bread & Roses Center (address and travel info above). The document is available at the Bread & Roses Center bookstore for $5.00.
