On April 25, over 150 supporters packed the courtroom for Rasmea Odeh, who accepted an agreement that stripped her of U.S. citizenship but allowed her to leave the country without serving additional jail time.

The 69-year-old Palestinian activist and her supporters spent the past three and a half years battling the U.S. government’s attempts to deport her for not disclosing a false confession tortured out of her by the Israeli government almost 40 years ago. Despite winning a new hearing, Odeh didn’t believe that a fair trial was possible in the current political climate.

Justice was not served by the state-sponsored harassment of this Palestinian-American leader.
