On October 17th, thousands will converge on Washington, D.C. for the national Million Worker March. Hear a first-hand account of the march from participants. Also featuring tributes to labor dynamos such as Luisa Capetillo, famous organizer in Puerto Rico and New York City; Lucy Gonzales Parsons, Black and Chicana revolutionary mobilizer; Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, inspiration for the song “The Rebel Girl”; and others. Welcome Radical Women leader Debra O'Gara to the Big Apple!
Debra, who recently moved to New York City and will be working with NYC Radical Women, brings years of rich experience as a leader of Seattle Radical Women and the National Comrades of Color Caucus. A Native Alaskan—a Tlingit of the Raven Clan—Debra served as a tribal attorney for the Puyallup Nation in Washington state for a decade. Since moving to New York City, she has taken a new job at Connect, a NYC agency helping women dealing with domestic violence.The welcome party will be held at Freedom Hall. A $7.00 donation is requested for a delectable Autumn Harvest Buffet. There will also be a cash bar featuring delectable Mimosa drinks.
